PLACES WHERE PEDESTRIANS HAVE PRIORITY
At present in the UK, apart from at a Home Zone, there are no methods to simply and clearly designate a street or part of a street as a zone where pedestrians have priority and therefore a completely stress-free environment in which to roam at will.
It is possible to restrict vehicle movement to access only and/or to ban vehicles completely during certain hours. These various combinations are applied in different combinations across the country. A total ban disadvantages local businesses who may need essential deliveries and a partial ban still assumes that drivers have the right of way which causes vulnerable pedestrians unnecessary stress and uncertainty.
