Action: construction & costs

Cost effectiveness

Of the three alternative design types, the least expensive is to paint zebra stripes on the existing carriageway. Assuming that the existing courtesy crossing's location and dropped kerbs are satisfactory, that is all that needs to be done

The extended pavement (Copenhagen) crossing in the correct location has the potential to be the most convenient and comfortable option for pedestrians to use. Success however, relies on the footway paving being robustly constructed to take the full and sustained wear of highway traffic.
